If so, Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ TEAChSTRONG Academy may be just the program for you!
Purpose
To prepare and equip participants to teach math or science in high-needs secondary schools and make an immediate impact on the students they will serve.
Overview
Participate in an intensive six-week summer training (June and July) consisting of enrichment programs, hands-on work experience, and a comprehensive professional development curriculum.
Receive a $3,500 stipend paid in three (3) equal installments, with the final payment issued after 60 days of FT employment.
Upon meeting all M-DCPS pre-employment requirements, participants will be hired into full-time teaching positions with the District in one of our high-needs schools.
Minimum Requirements
Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in a Math or Science field OR a passing score on any of the following Subject Area Exams*:
Biology (6-12)
Chemistry (6-12)
Math (6-12)
Middle Grades Math (5-9)
Middle Grades Science (5-9)
Physics (6-12)

2. No prior teaching experience as a full-time (FT) teacher in K-12 classroom
3. Completion of M-DCPS employment application (see link below)
4. Commitment to full six-week summer academy
5. Commitment to teach in a M-DCPS high-need secondary school
6. Commitment to taking and passing all sections of the General Knowledge Test (GKT) and applying to the FLDOE for certification prior to FT hire – not required for acceptance into program
